(1990) - The all-time leading rusher in the modern varsity football era (1989-90), Gary Errico is the first member of the football program from the present era to be elected to the Athletic Hall of Fame. He was elected in his first year of eligibility.
One of only six Division II running backs in New England history to rush for over 3,000 yards, Gary was third with 3,516 yards. A 1984 third team Associated Press Little All-American (Includes all Division II and III and NAIA schools) and second team Pizza Hut Division II All-American, Gary led the nation (Division III) in rushing as a senior.
In 1984, he was named to the ECAC Division III New England team, the AP All-New England (includes all divisions) second tea, and was the recipient of the Gold Helmet Award as the outstanding player in Divisions II and III. He was twice named to the ECAC Division III Honor Roll, and was named the weekly College Division Gold Helmet Award winner for his play against Colby (Oct. 6, 1984 - 194 yards and 4 touchdowns).
At the end of his stellar career, Gary held 32 school records. He rushed for a record 1,404 yards as a senior to lead the nation (156.0 yards per game) against a schedule that included three games against Division II opponents.
As a sophomore, he ranked third among New England Division III running backs (929 yards/92.9 per game) and was twice named to ECAC Honor Roll. The next year, he averaged 104.8 yards a game.
