(1986) - One of the outstanding football players at Lowell Textile Institute during the late 1930's, Rudy Meuser led LTI to its last great football successes before World War II and the abolishing of the sport in 1950.

After two straight winless seasons (1936 & 1937) and with a 22-game losing streak in tow, Meuser led LTI to a stunning 20-0 upset over the University of New Hampshire by scoring two touchdowns. he would have another big game the following week against Panzer both running and throwing the football for touchdowns. Six games into the 1938 season, the Meuser- quarterbacked LTI team was still unbeaten. After two tough losses, Meuser helped close the book on the finest football season (6-2-1) since the undefeated 1928 campaign with a 25-0 win over AIC.

As captain of the 1939 team, he led LTI to a 3-5 record playing for the late Waldo "Rusty" Yarnell, a 1978 inductee into the Hall of Fame. Over the last two years of his career, Meuser helped LTI compile a 9-7-1 record.

Not just a standout athlete, Meuser also served as the vice-president of his class as a freshman and sophomore and was involved in various other student activities. Included among these were the Textile Engineering Society, Omicron Pi fraternity, the Inter-Fraternity Council, and the Textile Players. As a senior, he worked on the Pickout Yearbook staff, the Commencement Committee and was President of the Executive Council.

A four-year football letterman, he served in the Army during World War II (1941-46).
