(1980) - James T. McGuirk enjoyed a fine basketball career at Lowell State College (1965-69). The former cage star ranks fifth among all-time career scorers at LSC with 1128 points. He ranks second in LSC history with 495 field goals made, tied the single-game mark of 18 field goals made, and his 43 points against Keene State in 1969, set a school record at the time.

McGuirk's senior year found him third in scoring and fourth in field goal percentage in the New England State College Conference as LSC rang up their best hoop record (16-6) in their history.

Jim was a longtime coach of the girls track and cross country team and boys basketball team at Lowell High School, his alma mater.
