(1996) - All-America long jumper Gus Silva was a standout in several events for Head Coach George Davis' track and field teams during his career.

Silva earned All-America honors in the long jump during the 1987 indoor season and was a two-time New England indoor champion in the 55M hurdles in 1988 and 1990. He holds the school indoor record in the long jump (23'9.5") at the 1987 NCAA Championships and was a three-time Eastern League 55M hurdle champion in indoor competition.

Gus also set the school outdoor long jump record of 23'0.5" at the Penn Relays in 1990 and then owned seven of the 10 best long jumps recorded in school history.

In addition to his prowess in the 55M hurdles, Silva also earned all-Eastern League accolades in the 110M hurdles and the 4x100 relay.
