(1984) - One of the outstanding players in the first years of the Lowell State College baseball program, Raymond Masse is the only athlete in LSC, Lowell Tech or ULowell history to captain a team four years.

A quiet leader who led by example, Masse captained the Lowell State baseball team for its first four seasons (1954-57) while earning four letters as a shortstop. He is considered by his former coach and former ULowell Athletic Director, Jim Ciszek, to be one of the finest athletes Ciszek ever coached.

The third all-time leading hitter in LSC history, Masse batted .385 during his four seasons including a seasonal high of .588 in 1954. At one point during his illustrious career, he had seven straight base hits. During the 1957 season, he led the Indians to a perfect 10-0 record.

A solid support of UMass Lowell athletics to this day, Masse also was a two-year letterman on the LSC basketball team.
