(1981) Charles (Chuck) J. Stahley, III was a native of Melrose, Mass. Stahely was the first All-American in an individual sport for Lowell Technological Institute, and because of the merger of Lowell Tech and Lowell State, proved to be LTI's only such All-American.

Stahley's undergraduate days (1972-76) also found him gaining All-American honors for the University of Lowell his senior year. His specialty was diving and his junior year found him second in the NCAA Division III championships in the 1-meter event and third in the 3-meter event. Stahley also compiled an undefeated dual meet record during his four years of diving competition at Lowell. In 1975, he was named the recipient of the Lester H. Cushing Outstanding Athlete Award among all varsity athletes.

After graduation Stahley was active in coaching. He served as head diving coach at Bridgewater State College, assistant diving coach at ULowell, and coached an AAU team in diving in Brockton, Massachusetts. Stahley also took part in the National YMCA Masters Swim Meet.
