(1992) - An All-American breaststroker for the Chiefs' swimming and diving program, Bob Lange is the sixth member of the program to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He was elected in his fifth year of eligibility.

An All-American as a freshman in the 100-yard breaststroke, Lange qualified for the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke that year. He would qualify for the 400-yard medley relay as a sophomore and senior. He teamed with fellow Hall of Famers Joe Vicedomine, Don Jensen, and Bob Blacker to win the new England Intercollegiate Swimming and Division Championship's 400-yard medley relay team and earn All-American Honors as a Senior when the relay finished fifth at the NCAA's.

An accomplished breaststroker in his own right, Bob made the transition to backstroke in a big way. This allowed coach Dick Kenney to put together the powerful medley quartet that went to the nationals, and helped the team in an otherwise weak event. he would set a school record in the 100-yard backstroke in 1983 that stood for several years.
