(1979) - After graduation from Keith Academy of Lowell, Leo R. Creegan entered Lowell State College (1962-66) and immediately became a standout athlete in both basketball and baseball.

Although his basketball talents were noted mostly for his defensive skills, Creegan scored 719 career points ranking him 13th among LSC players. He was elected captain of both the 1964-65 and 1965-66 squads.

On the baseball diamond, Creegan performed mostly at shortstop with some pitching experience. His career batting average was a stellar .329 mark with his best average coming during his junior year in which he compiled a .472 clip.

Honored as the Outstanding Senior Athlete in 1966, his name appears among the LSC career baseball record leaders in four categories. He was number one in stolen bases (28), second in assists (116), and third in both hits (55) and at-bats (167). For the 1965 baseball season, Creegan was ranked number one in the country among small college players in average and triples per game.

Creegan had considerable coaching experience since his playing days were over at LSC in basketball, and baseball. He served as the head baseball coach at Keith Academy (1967-70) and was an assistant football coach at Lowell High School.
