(1982) - During his four years at Lowell Technological Institute (1969-73), Jim Roberts won eight letters in cross country and track while also being selected captain of both squads in his junior and senior years. During his four seasons, the cross country team compiled an outstanding 49-12 won-lost record with the 1973 team earning LTI's first berth in the nationals.

Roberts held all distance records in track at LTI at one time or another during his career while also inning 80% of his races. Roberts was honored as the Lester Cushing Award recipient in 1973 for being the outstanding athlete at LTI.

Since graduation, Roberts has continued to run competitively and has run in the Boston marathon, until injuries have forced his retirement.
