(1993) - An outstanding two-sport athlete, Cheryl Lauziere, a native of Lowell, was elected to the Athletic Hall of Fame in her fourth year of eligibility. She was an all-conference performer in both softball and volleyball. She earned four letters in softball, three in volleyball, and was co-captain in both sports for two years. Playing softball for Denise Legault, Cheryl was named to the New England Collegiate Conference all-star first team at first base in both 1984 and 1985. She was named to the All-New England squad and played in the New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association All-Star game in 1985.
As a junior, Cheryl hit .301 with five doubles, eight rbi's and seven stolen bases in helping the Chiefs to an 18-10 overall record and a 9-5 mark in league play.
In her final year, she hit a team-leading .340 with nine doubles, two triples, one home run, and 23 rbi's. During her four seasons, she never hit below .277.
Lauziere led the volleyball team in kills as a junior (111) and a senior (298) playing for coach Joyce Skiff. During her senior year, she had an impressive .442 hitting percentage, the best single season mark in school history for which records were available, and was named to the NECC All-Tournament team. Her 298 kills were a single-season record when she graduated. She helped the team to a combined 72-45 record in three seasons.
