(1977) - As an undergraduate at Lowell Textile (1928-32), Aimee A. (Jerry) Savard Jr. was an outstanding athlete winning varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball.

Savard, a fine runner, pass receiver, and punter, was a star on Lowell's 1929 undefeated football team. He also excelled at basketball in the days when low-scoring games were the rule. Savard, enjoying many games by scoring better than 20 points per tile, was the leading scorer in the East in 1929.

The energetic Savard was a classy fielding outfielder who could also hit the baseball with authority.

After graduation, Savard received a tryout from the Boston Red Sox. he played semi-pro baseball in Portland, ME as well as professional ball for the Lowell club in the New England (Class A) League.
