(1998) - The 108th inductee into the Athletic Hall of Fame is Brian Toohey, Class of 1986. He was one of the finest hitters to play baseball for Coach Jim Stone at Lowell. The four-year letterwinner in the outfield helped his squad to 88 victories during his career and an appearance in the 1984 NCAA New England Regional. He was named the team's co-Rookie of the Year in 1983 and Most Valuable Player in 1986. Also along the way he earned all-NECC, all-New England and all-District accolades. Brian ranked in the top 10 in nine team offensive career categories and posted a career batting average of .404. As a pitcher, he racked up 12 victories on the mound, including five during his sophomore campaign of 1984.
