LOWELL, Mass. – It will be another busy week ahead for the UMass Lowell baseball team (15-23, 7-11 AE) as they will play five games over the next seven days. The River Hawks visit the Harvard Crimson (16-17, 7-7 IVY) on Tuesday before hosting the Boston College Eagles (15-25, 3-18 ACC) on Wednesday afternoon. UMass Lowell wraps up the week with a weekend series against the UAlbany Great Danes (17-17, 7-11 AE) at LeLacheur Park.

LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL

The River Hawks enter the week ahead after going 1-4 last week. UMass Lowell split the non-conference midweek games with Bryant and Rhode Island before dropping all three contests against Maine at the weekend. Junior Ryan Proto (Centerville, Mass.) led the team hitting .409 with five runs and nine hits during the week. Senior Gerry Siracusa (Kinnelon, N.J.) leads the team with 53 hits and 43 RBIs on the year. Freshman Jacob Humphrey (Standish, ME.) is 30-31 for stolen base attempts, tied for second in the country. Senior Robert Gallagher (Mullica Hill, N.J.) is tied for seventh in the country with 26 stolen bases.

ON THE MOUND

Freshman LJ Keevan (Holden, Mass.), senior Joshua Becker (Burlington, Mass.), and sophomore Brendan Williams (Auburn, N.Y.) each recorded six strikeouts on their appearances for the River Hawks last week. Becker leads the team with 56 strikeouts, while graduate student Ryan Towle (Westfield, Mass.) has 55 and Keevan has 48 this season. The rotation will likely get the nod in the weekend series against UAlbany. Sophomore Michael Quigley (Halifax, Mass.) is expected to start Tuesday at Harvard and freshman Brendan Holland (North Andover, Mass.) is likely to start Wednesday against Boston College.
