UMass Lowell men’s basketball redshirt sophomore Jahad Thomas (Williamsport, Pa.) picked up his first River Hawk of the Week nod this season for his performance in three games from February 8-14.
The guard/forward led the team to three wins against America East Conference opponents, averaging a team-best 23.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. He shot 66.7 percent (32-48) from the field, in addition to totaling 12 assists and 10 steals on the week, as well.
Thomas recorded three consecutive, 20-point games for the first time in his career, starting off the week with career highs for points (27) and field goals (11) against Vermont on Feb. 8. He followed that up with his second double-double of the year, recording 20 points and 10 rebounds in the squad’s overtime win at Maine on Feb. 11. To cap off the week, Thomas totaled 23 points and five assists.
Through 26 games in 2015-16, Thomas leads the River Hawks with 14.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He also paces the team with a 58.6 clip (157-268) from the floor.
The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen each week in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
