For the second week in a row, freshman Emily Baumes (Rexford, N.Y.) collected America East Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Baumes also picked up a River Hawk of the Week nod for her outstanding efforts on the diamond.
Baumes started in both contests this past weekend at the Camel Invitational, batting .714 (5-7) with three RBI. She logged one extra-base hit in each game, and added one stolen base against Campbell and one run against Eastern Kentucky.
So far this season, Baumes posts a .500 batting average, a .625 slugging percentage and a .571 on-base percentage. The freshman has 12 total hits, five RBI, three runs and two stolen bases.
This infielder has a perfect fielding percentage, as well, seeing time at third base.
This is Baumes' second America East Weekly honor and her first River Hawk of the Week accomplishment. The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
