Biography

CAREER: Made 103 appearances during his four years with the River Hawks, amassing 63 points off 22 goals and 41 assists … Ended his career with seven power play goals, one shorthanded tally and three game-winners … A three-time Hockey East All-Academic Team selection … Tabbed to the Hockey East All-Academic All-Star Team and received Hockey East Top Scholar-Athlete recognition as a sophomore and junior … Named the Rookie of the Year at the annual team awards banquet.

AS A SENIOR (2021-22): 
Named an alternate captain for the 2021-22 team … Saw action in all but one game this season for the River Hawks, scoring eight goals and dishing out 12 assists for 20 points … Ranked sixth on the team in points … Tied for second on the squad in power play goals with four … Scored a season-high two points in four different contests (10/29 at BU; 12/29 at St. Lawrence; vs. Maine (1/14); 3/4 at UNH).

AS A JUNIOR (2020-21): Skated in 19 games for the River Hawks…Ranked second on the team in points with 15 (5G, 10A)…Led the River Hawks in assists (10)…Finished the year with a +3 rating…Registered a season-high three points in an overtime victory against UConn, scoring one goal and dishing out two assists (2/9)…Scored a goal on the road at Boston College in the River Hawks 6-5 double overtime upset in the Hockey East Semifinals (3/17)…Credited with assists on three game-winning goals this season (vs. UConn (2/9), at Vermont (2/26), at Boston University (3/14))…Helped the River Hawks to a 7-3-1 mark whenever he scored a point and a 6-2-1 mark when he registered an assist ... Named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team and tabbed a Hockey East Top-Scholar Athlete. 

AS A SOPHOMORE (2019-20): He skated in 14 games in his sophomore season, returning after New Year's from injury. Stefanson totaled eight points (1g,7a) with 21 shots on goal. He notched two assists in the road win at Boston College on February 7th. UMass Lowell was 5-2-0 when Stefanson scored a point. He was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team and the Hockey East All-Academic All-Star Team, in addition to being named a Hockey East Top Scholar-Athlete. 

AS A FRESHMAN (2018-19): Stefanson led all River Hawk rookies with 20 points (8g,12a) and 70 shots on goal in 36 games in his freshman season. Totaled 15 points (6g,9a) in 24 league games for the River Hawks. Recorded his first career goal in his second career game on Oct. 13th vs. RIT. Had points in 15 games this season, which included four multi-point efforts. Had a career-high three points (1g,2a) on February 22nd vs. Merrimack and a career-high two goals on January 25th at Boston College. UMass Lowell owned an 11-2-2 record when Stefanson scored a point. Was named UMass Lowell's Rookie of the Year at the annual team awards banquet.

Previous Team: Stefanson played for the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League (USHL) in 2017-18, posting 39 points (13g,26a) in 51 contests. In 2016-17, Stefanson skated for the Minot Minotauros in the NAHL, recording 53 points (21g,32a) in 54 games. 

Personal: Son of Lynne and Brent Stefanson... Has two sister Megan and Janna... His nickname is Stef... In his time away from the rink he likes music, Movies/TV shows and playing cribbage.... Favorite TV show is Game of Thrones.. His favorite professional sports team is the Winnipeg Jets... His favorite sports figures and influences are his mom and dad, and Kevin Clark. His greatest sports moment was the 11-year old City Championship.
