Biography

(1981) - As an undergraduate at Lowell Textile (1931-35), John Baranowski was an outstanding tackle known for his speed an tenacity, the catalyst of the Textile line under Coach Rusty Yarnell. Nicknamed the [quote]Baron[quote], Baranowski was a four year starter and captain of the squad. A two-sport standout (football and basketball) at Chelsea High School, Baranowski led the CHS basketball team to the 1930 State Championship and placed second in the consolation round of the National High School Tournament in Chicago, IL. After graduation from Lowell Textile, Baranowski continued to play football in the Lowell area starring for both the Butler and Laurier teams. He also led the Lowell YMCA in basketball to New England championships from 1935-38.
