LOWELL, Mass. – Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Performance Lainie Williams has announced the addition of Brittani French as an Associate Athletic Trainer. French makes her return to UMass Lowell after spending time at Mass General Bridgham Orthopedics and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Â
"I am excited to have Brittani back as a River Hawk," said Williams. "She rejoins us with more experience, more maturity, and the same energy."
Over the past year, French served as a certified athletic trainer at Mass General Bridgham Orthopedics. While there, she was a clinical assistant to orthopedic surgeon and physician assistant who specialize in sports medicine, while helping manage appointments, patient communications, and referrals. She also was the main point of contact for clinical advice regarding acute injury, post-operative instructions, and follow up care questions, and assisted with in-office procedures.
"I am so grateful to be back at UML with Lainie and the Athletic Healthcare team," commented French. "It is a privilege to take on a new role in a community that has meant so much to me and my career."
Prior to her time at Mass General Bridgham Orthopedics, Fisher spent four years as an assistant athletic trainer at UMass Amherst. There, she was the primary athletic trainer for softball student-athletes and assisted with track, football, basketball, and soccer. Beyond her role with those teams, she designed and implemented injury prevention programs for overhand throwing athletes as well as was a member of multiple hiring committees for new employees within the university athletic department.
French began her career at UMass Lowell in 2017, starting as a certified athletic trainer intern before being promoted to an assistant athletic trainer in 2019. In her first stint with the River Hawks, she spent time as the trainer for both women's soccer and softball.
French earned her bachelor's in exercise science from Hofstra University in 2014, before going on to earn her master's in athletic training from Bridgewater State University in 2017.
