9/26/2026 10:34:00 AM | Women's Soccer
LOWELL, Mass. – Following a 1-1 draw at Binghamton, the UMass Lowell women's soccer team (3-4-2) hits the road to take on Maine (4-3-2). The River Hawks look to handle the America East preseason favorites in Orono, Maine, at noon on Sunday, September 27.
Facing the Favorites
Maine is coming off its third consecutive America East Tournament Championship in 2025. Last season, the River Hawks drew with the Black Bears 2-2. Overall, UMass Lowell is 4-9-2 against Maine all-time.
Conference Leaders
Sophomores Nina Hertz-Saebbö (Gothenburg, Sweden) and Nora Belin (Stockholm, Sweden) have taken the America East Conference by storm so far this season. On the River Hawks' goal at Binghamton, Belin assisted Hertz-Saebbö's left-corner strike. The play served as the epitome of the season so far, as Belin's fifth assist is good for the America East lead, while Hertz-Saebbö leads the conference in both goals and total points.
Standout Season
Belin put herself in elite company after recording her fifth assist of the year at Binghamton. She became the third River Hawk in the Division I era to record a season with five or more assists and five or more goals, joining Calliste Brookshire and Rachel Morrier. Last season, Belin tied for the team lead with six goals.
Save Machine
Junior Rachel Welch (Franklin, Mass.) remains 10th in the nation with 6.5 saves per match. Overall this season, she's allowed 1.67 goals against average, making 39 total saves and earning a shutout at Stonehill.
