LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's soccer team (5-6-4, 2-2-3 AE) plays its final regular-season match at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, against Bryant (5-6-4, 3-2-2 AE). A spot in the America East Women's Soccer Championship is on the line as the River Hawks (nine points) face off against the Bulldogs (11 points) on Senior Day.
Â
Senior Celebrations
Seniors Diana Jedrychowski (Farmington, Conn.), Luka Marceau (Newton, Mass.), Eliana Parreira (Chelmsford, Mass.), Marissa Sage (Milford, N.H.) and Franzisca Sinclair (Frankfurt, Germany) will be honored during the match against the Bulldogs.
Â
Playoff Scenarios
With the top six teams in the conference making the postseason, UMass Lowell must pick up points to be included in the field. A win solidifies a spot in the postseason, while a tie coupled with a Vermont loss also puts the River Hawks in the tournament. Depending on Sunday's results, the River Hawks could get as high as the No. 2 seed.
In the event UMass Lowell finds itself in a three-way tie with Maine (11 points) and UMBC (11 points), the River Hawks come out on top. A win, a tie between UMBC and Maine, and a UAlbany loss or tie at New Hampshire gives the River Hawks the No. 2 seed and a bye.
Â
Series History
UMass Lowell holds a 12-7-5 record against Bryant all time. Last season, the River Hawks battled the Bulldogs to a 1-1 regular-season draw.
Â
Record Holder
Following her ninth assist of the season against NJIT, sophomore Nora Belin (Stockholm, Sweden) set UMass Lowell's Division I single-season record for most assists. She ranks ninth in the nation in total assists and sixth in the country with 0.60 assists per match.
Â
Let the Storm Rage On
After scoring her first two collegiate goals against New Hampshire and NJIT, redshirt freshman Elsa Freeman (Portland, Maine) was named the America East Rookie of the Week. Freeman equalized in the 85th minute against the Wildcats and netted the game-winner on the road against the Highlanders.
Â
Historic Hertz-Saebbö
Sophomore Nina Hertz-Saebbö (Gothenburg, Sweden) added onto a strong season, notching a goal against New Hampshire. Her seven goals and 16 points are tied for sixth-most and eighth-most in a single season in DI program history, respectively. Â
