No. 4 River Hawks Host No. 5 NJIT in America East Quarterfinal

LOWELL, Mass. – Postseason soccer has arrived, and the #4 UMass Lowell women's soccer team (3-5-7, 3-2-3 AE) will host the #5 NJIT Highlanders (7-6-5, 3-4-1 AE) on Monday night at Cushing Field. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.

LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks closed out the regular season with a scoreless draw against Bryant to finish the season with a 3-5-7 record and 3-2-3 mark in league play. Taylor Burgess continued to impress in goal, making five stops against the Bulldogs to help secure a point and a first-round home game for the River Hawks in the playoffs.
 
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
NJIT closed the regular season with a 2-0 loss to Binghamton to finish the year with 7-6-5 overall record and a 3-4-1 mark in conference play. The Highlanders defeated Vermont, Bryant and UMBC this season while tying UAlbany to earn the fifth seed in the postseason tournament. Briana Andreoli leads the team with six goals and 15 points this season. Gabby Zalot has a team-high five assists and sits second on the squad with nine points. Thirteen players have found the back of the net at least once this year for the Highlanders, totaling 25 goals in 18 games. Samantha Constantine has started all 18 games and holds a 7-6-4 record. She has made 50 saves and conceded 19 goals this season.
 
MATCHUP HISTORY
UMass Lowell defeated the Highlanders 2-0 in September behind goals from Chloe Layne and Luka Marceau. Calliste Brookshire and Hope Santaniello provided the assists while Taylor Burgess needed to make just one save to keep the clean sheet. The sides have not met in the postseason prior to this year.
 
POSTSEASON HISTORY
UMass Lowell will appear in its sixth straight America East Tournament and will host a first-round game for the fifth straight year. NJIT made the postseason last year, falling the No.3 Maine 4-1 in the quarterfinal round.
 
LEADING THE FLOCK
Calliste Brookshire leads the team with four goals and four assists for 12 points this season. Chloe Layne and Julia Edholm have added three goals apiece and have combined for 13 total points. Taylor Burgess has made 69 saves through 15 starts with three clean sheets. Burgess and Allison LeBlanc are the only two players to play every minute this year, totaling 1350 minutes.
