CHICAGO - Incoming freshman defenseman Croix Evingson (Anchorage, Alaska) of the UMass Lowell Hockey team was selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the final day of the 2017 NHL Draft with the 211th overall pick in the seventh round on Saturday afternoon at the United Center.
Evingson (6'5", 210 lbs) played last season for the Shreveport Mudbugs in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). He recorded 52 points (12g,40a) in 59 contests. His 40 assists and 52 points led all NAHL defenseman in 2016-17. He was named the NAHL's Defenseman of the Year and selected to the All-NAHL Team, as well as the All-South Division Team.

Norm Bazin. "He was identified and rewarded for his body of work in the NAHL. He understands that being selected is the first step to the real work ahead. We are very excited to work with him this upcoming year at UMass Lowell."
The 2017-18 River Hawks roster will feature three NHL draft picks, which also includes sophomores
Tyler Wall (NYR) and
Ryan Lohin (TBL), who were selected in the 2016 NHL Draft.
