DURHAM, N.H. – The No. 6 UMass Lowell Hockey team skated to a 2-1 victory against New Hampshire on Friday night at the Whittemore Center in Hockey East play.
With the win, the River Hawks up its record to 14-5-3 (7-3-1 HEA), while New Hampshire falls to 9-8-2 overall (5-2-1 HEA).

John Edwardh (Calgary, Alta.) opened the scoring in the game with his 10
th of the year just 4:16 into the game. Junior forward
Jake Kamrass (Atlanta, Ga.) scored his eighth tally of the year after a
C.J. Smith (Des Moines, Iowa) shot from the left point deflected off of Kamrass and beat UNH goalie Danny Tirone at 10:16 of the opening frame to give UMass Lowell a 2-0 lead. Smith's assist on the Kamrass goal was the 100
th point of his River Hawk career and now has 46 goals and 54 assists in 101 career games. Smith finished the night with a team-high four shots on goal for the River Hawks. UMass Lowell held a slim, 12-11 shot advantage at the end of the first frame.
The Wildcats got on the board in the second period cutting the River Hawks lead to 2-1 on a goal by Brendan Van Riemsdyk and neither team scored the rest of the way.
Freshman goaltender
Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) made his 16
th career start and stopped 33 shots in his 13
th victory of the year. Tirone recorded 21 saves in the losing effort for the Wildcats.
Freshman forward
Ryan Lohin (Chadds Ford, Pa.) paced the #RiverHawks from the faceoff circle, winning 7-of-11 (63%).
UMass Lowell went 2-for-2 on the penalty kill in its seventh road win of the season and third road victory in Hockey East play.
