BALTIC, Conn. - Junior
Harry Hulme (Manchester, England) shot 75-79—154 (+10), which led the River Hawks golf team at the New England Division I Championship Saturday and Sunday at The Mohegan Sun Country Club in Baltic, Conn.
UMass Lowell finished in 10
th place with a combined score of 644 (+68) with a round of 325 (+37) on Saturday and improved that scored by six strokes on Sunday shooting 319 (+31) as a team. Hartford University captured the team title with scores of 287-284—571 (-5), while UConn placed second. The Huskies finished with rounds of 292-289—581 (+5).
Hulme finished tied for 26
th out of 50 participants. The tournament drew 10 schools.
Freshman
Jonathan Burgin (Hampshire, England) shot 81-76—157 (+13), good for 33rd. Finishing tied for 42nd, sophomore
Jake Hulme (Methuen, Mass.) shot 83-82—165 (+21). Sophomore
Nick Gordon (Export, Pa.) shot rounds of 86-82—168 (+24) to finish in 47
th. Rounding out the River Hawks was freshman
John Ryan (Westford, Mass.) who finished 49
th. Ryan shot rounds of 89-87—176 (+32).
Pete Ballo of Sacred won medalist honors shooting rounds of 65-70—135 (-9), edged out Evan Russell of Hartford University by one stroke, 70-66—136 (-1).
The River Hawks will tee off in the three-day Yale Spring Invitational Tournament beginning on Friday, April, 18, at the Yale University Golf Club in New Haven, Conn.
