NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. – The UMass Lowell men's golf team finished tied for eighth at the Rhode Island Invitational.

The River Hawks shot a 311 in the third and final round of the tournament, giving them a tournament total of 925. They tied with Laval University, who shot a third-round total of 318.

Bryant University took first place with a tournament score of 872, holding the first-place spot throughout the tournament. Wagner College and tournament host the University of Rhode Island tied for second with tournament scores of 892.

Junior
Jonathan Burgin (Hampshire, England) led the UMass Lowell squad with a three-round score of 225. Junior
Joe Vanaman (Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottingham, England) was second for the River Hawks with a tournament score of 231.

Sophomore
Kevin Scott (Tyngsborough, Mass.) and junior
Ryan Paris (Haverhill, Mass.) came in next for UMass Lowell with scores of 235 and 240, respectively. Freshman
Matthew Casavant (Reading, Mass.) rounded out the River Hawks with a score of 242.

Burgin shot the lowest round of the tournament amongst the River Hawks, turning in a two-over-par 74 in the third round.

UMass Lowell men's golf will conclude their season beginning this Friday, April 22, at the Til Duty Is Done Invitational at the Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Baltic, Conn.
