Ella Merrill (Bermuda Dunes, Calif.) leads the team with 229 kills on the year (2.54 kills per set), junior setter
Kylee Chun (Las Vegas, Nevada) has amassed 656 assists (7.29 assists per set) in her first season running the River Hawks' offense. Senior libero
Hannah Rey (San Diego, Calif.) is the anchor of the UMass Lowell defense with a team-high 461 digs (5.07 digs/set). Rey ranks third in America East with 5.07 assists per set and her 461 digs is also third in the America East Conference. Merrill's 2.54 kills per set ranks 10th among America East hitters.
SCOUTING STONY BROOK: The Seawolves will travel to New Hampshire before their matchup with UMass Lowell. They sit in second place in the conference with a 7-3 mark and 17-11 overall. Stony Brook is currently riding a five-game winning streak and has won six of its last seven. Melissa Rigo leads the offense with 271 kills, and sits in second with 2.82 kills per set. Nicole Vogel has 878 assists to help set up the offense. Laura Hathaway leads the team in digs with 383 to average 3.91 per set. Taylor Gillie leads the team and conference with 115 blocks.
SCOUTING HARTFORD: The Hawks also place New Hampshire before battling the River Hawks, sitting at 16-12 overall and 4-6 in America East. Sareeta Nethersole has 394 kills for an average of 3.61 per set to lead the conference. Jackie Tamburri sits in second place in the conference with 1064 assists, 9.76 per set. Nethersole also leads the team with 405 digs, and Katy Henchy adds 75 blocks.
THE 2014 SENIOR CLASS: The River Hawk Class of 2014 has amassed 26 victories over the last four seasons. Both
Ella Merrill and
Anisa Smith come into the final weekend of conference play tied with 673 career kills apiece, while Merrill needs two kills to break her all-time season mark of 230 kills set in 2012 and Smith needs 10 kills to break her single-season mark from 2012 (197) in her sophomore season. Libero
Hannah Rey ranks sixth on the all-time single-season digs list with 461, she needs 102 digs in the final six matches to break the school record. Rey transitioned to libero from outside hitter, where set amassed 206 kills in her freshman season in 2011. Humphrey has amassed 435 in two seasons setting for the River Hawks.
