Biography
AS A SENIOR (2014): Smith started and played in all 33 matches (112 sets) for the River Hawks in her senior season and was one of only two River Hawks to earn that distinction in 2014, as team captain. She ranked third on the team with career-high 237 kills, a .130 hitting percentage, 231 digs and 56 total blocks (11s,45a). Recorded a season-high 14 kills on Nov. 14th vs. Stony Brook and amassed a career-high 15 digs on Nov. 15th vs. Hartford. Registered 10+ kills nine times and 10+ digs on eight occasions. Had three blocks or more eight times, including a season-high with six on Oct. 3rd vs. Albany. Smith was named "River Hawk of the Week" on Nov. 19th and was named to the Chicago State and Grand Canyon All-Tournament teams. She recorded 722 kills, 475 digs and 225 total blocks in her four-year career.
AS A JUNIOR (2013): Appeared in all 26 matches with 25 starts (81 games played) • Totaled 160 kills, 49 digs, eight service aces, six assists • Was eigth in America East with 0.79 blocks per set (64 total blocks) • Had a season-high of eight blocks along with 11 kills vs. Providence (10/13) • Had 12 kills at Providence (11/10).Â

AS A SOPHOMORE (2012): Saw action in 23 matches and played in 93 games • Had 197 kills, 101 digs, 59 total blocks, 21 service aces and 20 assists • Highlights include a career-high 19 kills, nine digs and 5 total blocks in a 3-2 loss to Southern Conn. St. (11/3) • Registered 14 kills and eight digs in a 3-1 win at St. Rose (11/9).Â
AS A FRESHMAN (2011): Appeared in 24 matches with 21 starts (83 games played) • Totaled 128 kills, 94 digs, 46 total blocks, 28 assists and nine service aces • Had 12 kills, 10 digs, four blocks and three service aces at AIC (9/13) • Also tallied 10 digs at SNHU (9/17).
BEFORE UMASS LOWELL: Three-year varsity player with Campolindo High School • As a senior, helped lead the team to a State Championship where she received first team honors • As a sophomore and junior she received Second Team All-League honors • Played for Xceleration Club team in California.
PERSONAL: Smith is the daughter of Laura and Kearey Smith of Moraga, Calif. • Lists her father as her favorite sports influence for his motivation and support • Chose to come to UML to get a great education, play volleyball and become a more independent person • Names her greatest sports moment when beating Cathedral Catholic for the state championship • Majoring in Exercise Physiology.
