LOWELL, Mass. -- Freshman outside hitter
Kate Bilyeu (Omaha, Neb.) of the UMass Lowell Volleyball team was named America East Rookie of the Week for the third time this year, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
She tied a career-high with a match-high 14 kills to go along with four digs in the 3-1 victory at UAlbany on Saturday night in the season finale to help UMass Lowell pick up its program-record third conference of the year.
"We are honored that Kate was chosen as the America East Rookie of the Week for her efforts on Saturday," said UMass Lowell Head Coach
Resa Provanzano. "It was a big win for our program against a strong team and Kate came up clutch several times to help the team and to make it happen.  She played smart, swung confidently, and brought a tremendous amount of energy to our offense.  She continues to impress and has an extremely bright future."
Bilyeu led the River Hawks' roster in her freshman season with 195 kills and 2.19 kills per set. She amassed 10+ kills in 10 matches this season, including posting a career-high 14 kills on three occasions in her rookie campaign with UMass Lowell.
