Senior Andrew Fecteau (Newbury, Mass.) fired a two-day 153 to lead the UMass Lowell golf team to seventh place at the Dowling College Bayside Resort Invitational Saturday and Sunday in Selbyville, Del.

UMass Lowell scored composite rounds of 314 and 330 (644). Wilmington University won the team title with scores of 301-304—605 while St. Thomas Aquinas placed second with a 299-313—612 and Concordia (N.Y.) third with a 318-312—630.

The host Lions (308-326—634) took fourth and were followed by Southern New Hampshire (322-321—643) and Bentley (315-329—644). The field drew 12 teams and 67 individuals.

UMass Lowell was limited to four players on the second day as sophomore Harry Hulme (Manchester, England) withdrew from Sunday's round with a back injury, resulting in dropping his team-low score of 78 on Saturday.

“It was a pretty good effort for our first time out,” said head coach Jim Mahoney. “Conditions were bad for everyone (40 degree temperatures), so the total numbers were higher than we anyone would expect. But we think we can get back to our level that we played in the fall.”

Fecteau carded a 79 on Saturday and followed with a two-over-par 74 Sunday. Senior Sylvain Debiais (St. Jean de Monts, France) placed in a tie for 18th with a 79-80—159 while senior Jordan Traa (Calgary, Alta.) shot a 78-85—163.

Sophomore Kevin Fay (Lawrence, Mass.) shot an 84-91—175.

Andreas Lunding of Wilmington earned medalist honors with a 70-74—144.

UMass Lowell enjoys a week's hiatus before entering the Bentley Cape Cod Classic at the Bay Pointe Club in Onset, Mass.
