Sophomore
Harry Hulme (Manchester, England) carded rounds of one-over 73 and 78 (151) and placed in a tie for second as the UMass Lowell golf team captured the Northeast Intercollegiate Championship Sunday and Monday at the Timberlin Country Club.
UMass Lowell combined rounds of 304 Sunday and a 307 Monday for a 611. The River Hawks won the tournament by seven strokes as the host Post University scored a 310-308—318 and American International College a 312-312—624.
Saint Anselm (321-308—629) took fourth and was followed by Dowling (319-313—632), Goldey-Beacom (317-316—633) and Dominican (321-315—636). Le Moyne (323-315—638), Franklin Pierce (322-325—647) and Holy Family (353-327—680) rounded out the field.
“Everybody contributed, all five guys,” said head coach
Jim Mahoney. “It was a true team effort.”
Dating back to last spring, the tournament title is UMass Lowell's fourth in its last five regular season tournaments.
Hulme shared the runner-up spot with Kurt Brey of Dowling, who shot rounds of 77-74—151 while Thomas Rees of Post University won medalist with a 73-75—148.
“Harry played a lot over the summer,” Mahoney said. “He's come back in a real groove. He's been playing well at Meadow Creek and he played extremely well today.”
Led by Hulme, all five River Hawks finished among the top 14 places. The field consisted of 50 players representing 10 teams.

Andrew Fecteau (Newbury, Mass.) shot a 78-75—153 to place in a tie for sixth while senior
Sylvain Debiais (St. Jean De Monts, France) carded a 73-82—155 to place 11
th.
Senior
Jordan Traa (Calgary, Alta.) and sophomore
Kevin Fay (Lawrence, Mass.) each shot rounds of 80-77—157 to cap UMass Lowell's effort.
UMass Lowell enters the Dowling September Shootout Saturday and Sunday at Long Island National Golf Course.
