Senior
Sylvain Debiais (St. Jean de Monts, France) shot consecutive rounds of 72 to place fifth overall and lead the UMass Lowell golf team to seventh place at the American International College/Adelphi University Classic Saturday and Sunday at Connecticut National Golf Course.
UMass Lowell, which sat in a tie for second place after Saturday's round of 295, slipped Sunday to seventh as it shot a collective 314 for a final score of 609.
Adelphi won the team title with rounds of 292-292—584 while Holy Cross took second with a 299-294—594.
St. Thomas Aquinas placed third with a 295-299—594 while Le Moyne took fourth (298-298—596), Bryant fifth (305-294—599) and Bentley sixth (297-311—608).
The tournament drew 68 players representing 13 Division II and I colleges.
The result was Debiais' best tournament of the fall. Sophomore
Kevin Fay (Lawrence, Mass.) placed in a tie for 19
th as he carded rounds of 75 and 76 (151) while sophomore
Harry Hulme (Manchester, England) placed tied for 22
nd with a 72-80—152.
Senior
Jordan Traa (Calgary, Alta.) shot a 76-86—162 to place tied for 52
nd while freshman
Joe Francisco (Ludlow, Mass.) shot an 84-86—170.
UMass Lowell concludes the fall season Saturday through Monday with the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.
