Stellar Day Two Lifts UMass Lowell to Second at Saint Rose Fall Shootout

Hulme, Fay, Traa finish among top 11; Debiais, Fecteau enjoy late surge

Sophomore Harry Hulme (Manchester, England) carded rounds of six-over-par 77 and 76 (153) to lead the UMass Lowell Golf team at the College of Saint Rose Fall Shootout at the Pinehaven Country Club.

UMass Lowell, which had been in fourth place after Friday's round one with a 324, improved to a tournament-low 303 on Saturday for a composite score of 627.

Concordia College (N.Y.) won the title with a 312-305—617. Bentley placed third with a 318-315—633, just ahead of Le Moyne (323-314—637), Southern New Hampshire (326-313—639), Dominican (329-316—645) and Saint Anselm (331-327—658).

Felician (331-331—662), the host Golden Knights (336-338—674) and Sage College (340-339—679) rounded out the field.

The tournament drew 10 teams and 53 players.

Sophomore Kevin Fay (Lawrence, Mass.) carded an 80-78—158 to place in a tie for eighth while senior Jordan Traa (Calgary, Alta.) shots rounds of 79-80—159 to finish tied for 11th.

Seniors Sylvain Debiais (St. Jean de Monts, France) and Andrew Fecteau (Newbury, Mass.) each placed in a tie for 22nd, but led UMass Lowell's surge in the second round. Debiais struggled to an 89 on Friday, but improved to a three-over 74 while Fecteau shot an 88 Friday and a 75 on Saturday.

UMass Lowell enters the American International College/Adelphi University Shootout next Saturday at the Connecticut National Country Club.
