With a league-best seven points through the first two games of 2017, UMass Lowell field hockey sophomore Anouk Lalande (Brussels, Belgium) was named America East Offensive Player of the Week and River Hawk of the Week, as announced on Tuesday.
Â
Lalande kicked off her sophomore campaign with three goals and one assist in a 1-1 week for the River Hawks.
Â
She started the new year with the game-winning tally against Colgate on August 25 on a penalty corner early in the second half, finishing off a rebound that she collected following teammate Katie Luchino’s initial shot. The forward also assisted on the squad’s first goal of that contest and the season, which Torrie Huk sent home just under 10 minutes into the game.
Â
On Aug. 27, Lalande continued to attack on the offensive end with both of the River Hawks’ scores in a 3-2 setback at Hofstra.
Â
This marks the first career America East Offensive Player of the Week nod for Lalande after she earned a pair of Rookie of the Week selections in 2016. Additionally, this is her second career River Hawk of the Week honor.
Â
The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
