Biography

2018-19 Season: Hernberg owns a 8-4-2 record in 14 starts (15 appearances) for the River Hawks in his senior season. Hernberg owns a 2.21 GAA and a .919 save percentage with three shutouts. His 2.21 GAA ranks fifth among HEA netminders. In Hockey East play, he has posted a 5-3-2 record with a 2.29 GAA and a .920 save percentage with two shutouts.  His 2.29 GAA ranks seventh best among league goalies in conference games and his .920 save percentage is eight best. Has allowed two goals or fewer in seven of his 14 starts and has totaled 30+ saves on three occasions this year. Hernberg posted a season-high 34 saves in the 5-2 win at Boston University on December 7th. Was named Hockey East Player of the Week (Feb. 11) and Defensive Player of the Week (Jan. 7). In his last four starts, he owns a 1-2-1 record with a 1.24 GAA and a .955 save percentage.

2017-18 Season: Hernberg registered a career-year for the River Hawks with 14-10-0 record in 24 starts for the River Hawks, to go along with a 2.08 GAA and a .921 save percentage with five shutouts. His 2.08 GAA ranked third in the league and his .921 save percentage was tied for second among conference netminders. His five shutouts were one short of a single-season school record and Hernberg was tied for the most shutouts in Hockey East, along with BU's Jake Oettinger. In Hockey East play in 17 contests, he posted a 9-5-0 record with a 2.27 GAA and .916 save percentage with three shutouts. His 2.27 GAA in Hockey East games ranked fourth and his .916 save percentage was sixth best among Hockey East netminders in conference contests. Allowed two goals or less in 17 of 24 starts and registered five 30+ save efforts. Tied a career-high with 39 saves in Game 1 of the Hockey East Quarterfinals against Merrimack at the Tsongas Center. Hernberg earned three awards at the annual team banquet including the team Most Valuable Player Award, the Most Improved Award and the Coaches Perseverance Award. He was named Hockey East Player of the Week on November 20th and was twice named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 23rd and Jan. 8th.

2016-17 Season: Hernberg started two games of four games he played in his sophomore season for the River Hawks, posting a 4.35 GAA and .875 save percentage. Had a career-high 39 saves in the 4-4 tie against Minnesota-Duluth in the season opener.

2015-16 Season: Hernberg has played in two games this season with a 1-0-0 record and a 1.21 GAA and a .941 save percentage. He made his collegiate debut on January 22nd at Providence in a relief appearance, making 13 saves. Hernberg won his first career start on January 29th vs. Arizona State with 19 saves at the Tsongas Center.
