AS A GRADUATE STUDENT (2024): Made 18 appearances with nine starts…Had a 2-2 record with a 4.61 ERA, seventh best in the America East…Threw 56.2 innings with 38 strikeouts…Went a career-high 7.0 innings with career-high six strikeouts at UAlbany (5/4).

AS A SENIOR (2023): Made 16 appearances with six starts on the mound…Held a 2-0 record and posted a 7.83 ERA…Struck out 18 hitters in 33.1 innings…Earned wins over Dartmouth (4.4) and Rhode Island (4.19) …Threw a season-high 6.2 innings against URI (4.19) and struck out a season-high five hitters against Merrimack (4.11).

AS A JUNIOR (2022): Did not see game action.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2021): Started once in eight total appearances … posted a 2.18 ERA through 20.2 innings … gave up 14 hits in 88 batters faced, allowing five earned runs … struck out 17 batter … registered an opposing batting average of .203.

AS A FRESHMAN (2020):
**Season shortened due to COVID-19** Only appearance was 2.15 versus Canisius…went 0.1 innings and allowed four hits and three runs… America East Winter/Spring Honor Roll selection.
 
HIGHLIGHTS: Senior captain … State Championship runner-up freshman year… was in the top 10% of National Honors Society students at Topsail
 
PERSONAL: Son of Scott and Julie Cota … has two brothers, Clark, who played at UNC-Wilmington for three years before he was drafted in the 10th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by Oakland, and Bryce, who pitches at UNC-Wilmington currently …  Father played baseball and mother played tennis at Merced College in Merced, California…Grandfather, Butch Hughes, played four years of minor league baseball before coaching at Merced College from 1972-81 and with various MiLB clubs... hobbies include golfing and working out … favorite TV show is The Office … favorite professional sports team is the Tampa Bay Rays … favorite sports figure is Clayton Kershaw … greatest sports moment was making it to the State Championship … plastics engineering major.
