Biography
Profesional Career: Signed a one-year deal with the NHL's Anaheim Ducks on March 31st.
2015-16 Season: Boyle started 39 of 40 games for the River Hawks in his senior season, posting a 24-10-5 record with a 1.83 GAA and a .934 save percentage with seven shutouts in his senior season. Earned Hockey East Tournament MVP honors with 3-1-0 record with a 1.24 GAA and .958 save percentage in four HEA Tournament contests. Named Hockey East Co-Player of the Year and a Second-Team All-Star. Boyle is the first Second-Team All-Star in the 32-year history of the league to win HEA Player of the Year honors. Was named a USCHO Third-Team All-American and was named to the All-New England All-Star team. Was named Team MVP at the annual team awards banquet and also took home the Coaches' Perseverance Award. His 23 wins were a career-high and his seven shutouts this season broke Connor Hellebuyck (12-13;13-14) and Cam McCormick’s (2001-02) single-season school record on March 12th vs. Boston University in Game 2 of the Hockey East Quarterfinals at the Tsongas Center. Boyle’s 1.83 GAA is fourth best in the nation and second best among Hockey East goaltenders. His .934 save percentage was seventh best in the country and was second among league netminders. His seven shutouts were tied for third in the nation and his 2363:34 minutes played, which broke Dwayne Roloson's schoo record, was the second best total in Division I. His 24 wins ranked tied for fifth in the country. Finished Hockey East play as the Goaltending Champion finishing first in GAA (1.62) and save percentage (.941) and won the Three Stars Award. Allowed two goals or fewer in 28 starts and recorded 30+ saves on 13 occasions this season, including a career-high and team record 58 saves in the Hockey East Semifinal against Providence on March 18th (3OT). Has been named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week five times this season, on October 19th, November 16th, January 11th, March 14th and March 21st. Is one of five finalists for the Mike Richter Award.
In two seasons with UMass Lowell, Boyle went 42-19-11 with a 2.10 GAA, .925 save percentage with 10 shutouts in 73 games. He is second on the career list for GAA, save percentage and winning percentage and is tied for third all-time for wins.
