River Hawks Ranked No. 10 in Hockey East Preseason Poll

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell ice hockey team has been ranked No. 10 in the 2026-27 Hockey East Preseason Poll, as announced by the league office on Wednesday morning.
The poll is voted on by the league's head coaches, with the River Hawks receiving 31 points after finishing the 2025-26 season with a 13-22-0 overall record and a 9-15-0 Hockey East record. They sit just ahead of Vermont, who received 22 points.
Providence earned eight first-place votes and 106 points to take the top spot, while Massachusetts followed with 98 points and one first-place vote. Boston University ranks third with 87 points and two first-place votes, followed by Boston College with 86 points. UConn (73), Merrimack (68), Maine (57), Northeastern (52) and New Hampshire (35) round out the top nine.
The River Hawks open the 2026-27 season on Oct. 9, hosting Clarkson at the Tsongas Center at 7:15 p.m.
