BOSTON, Mass. – After standout performances in conference play last week, junior Alfred Mucciarone (Franklin, Mass.) earned his second America East Pitcher of the Week honor of the season, while graduate student Nicholas Solorzano (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) was named America East Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

In Friday's series opener against Maine, Mucciarone turned in a stellar complete-game shutout to lead the River Hawks to a 2–0 win. The junior right-hander allowed just six hits and two walks while striking out two batters over nine innings of work to secure his third victory of the season. The recognition marks his second America East Pitcher of the Week award of the 2026 season after also collecting the honor on March 31, when he threw a complete game against Maine and struck out a season-high seven batters in a 10-1 triumph.

A productive week offensively helped Solorzano collect the first America East Player of the Week recognition of his career, fueled by an explosive outing in the series finale at Maine. The graduate student batted .294 (5-17) with a 1.000 on-base plus slugging percentage, totaling five hits, two home runs, a double, six RBI, and two runs scored in four contests. The El Dorado Hills native capped the week with a huge performance in the series finale against Maine, finishing 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, five RBI, and two runs scored. His go-ahead two-run homer in the ninth inning lifted UMass Lowell to a 5-4 victory and completed the series sweep over Maine.

With one week remaining in the regular season, Mucciarone has pitched a team-high 67.2 innings in 12 starts, owning a 4.66 earned run average and a 1.45 WHIP. The junior has registered 42 strikeouts and has posted two complete games. Solorzano has recorded a .250 batting average through 41 games played, while also holding a .762 on-base plus slugging percentage. The catcher totals 36 hits with six doubles and six home runs, as well as tacking on 13 runs scored, 26 RBI, and one stolen base. On the field, Solorzano has posted a .993 fielding percentage with 121 putouts and 13 assists.
