LOWELL, Mass. – Freshman
Dalyn Wakely (Port Hope, Ontario) of the UMass Lowell ice hockey team (6-8-0, 3-3-0 Hockey East) has been named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week for his efforts this past weekend, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Wakely put on a show in Saturday's 7-3 victory against St. Lawrence at the Adirondack Winter Invitational in Lake Placid, earning his first career hat trick with goals in the first, second and third periods. In the first, he put the River Hawks up 2-0 with a power play goal, before a game-tying goal in the second and an empty-netter in the third to secure the win. He also added to his successful weekend with a faceoff win percentage of .524 (11-for-21).
This marks the first Hockey East Weekly Award of Wakely's career.
