River Hawks Announce 2025 Team Captains

LOWELL, Mass. — UMass Lowell Baseball Head Coach Nick Barese has named the River Hawks' captains for the upcoming season.

Seniors Alex Luccini (Hopedale, Mass.) and Brandon Fish (Londonderry, N.H.) have excelled during their playing careers at UMass Lowell so far and have now earned the opportunity to become captains for the 2025 campaign.

"We are fortunate as a program to have Alex and Brandon lead us into the 2025 season as team captains," said Barese. "I can't think of two more deserving, and high character student-athletes within our program. When we talk about wanting guys to do everything right on and off the field, Luccini and Fish are perfect examples. They embody the core values of our program, and I know their leadership will drive this program forward in the right direction."

Entering his fourth year, Luccini has been effective as an outfielder during his collegiate career. In the field, the senior has posted 343 putouts with a career fielding percentage of .981. At the plate, he boasts a .270 batting average and an on-base percentage of .363 with 105 runs, 143 hits, 13 home runs and 91 RBI. Luccini comes off of a career season in 2024 with 64 hits, 46 runs, 39 RBI and nine home runs on a .290 batting average. Due to his stellar season, Luccini garnered America East All-Conference Second Team accolades to close out last season.

Showing his value early in his career, Fish earned America East All-Rookie Team honors. During his playing career, the infielder, has tallied 124 putouts, 243 assists and a .924 fielding percentage with the River Hawks. At the plate, the senior totals 150 hits, 70 runs, 93 RBI and eight home runs on a .268 batting average with a .327 on-base percentage. Last year, Fish finished with 42 putouts and a .926 fielding percentage, in addition to a .269 batting average with 53 hits, 26 runs and 29 RBI.
