LOWELL, Mass. – As of Tuesday morning, the UMass Lowell ice hockey team's complete 2024-25 competition schedule has been revealed. The squad will kick off the new campaign at the Tsongas Center on Oct. 11 and 12, hosting Minnesota Duluth for a two-game set.

"Hockey East will, again, provide some great matchups home and away," said Head Coach Norm Bazin. "I believe this year's non-conference schedule sets us apart and is really exciting for our players. It proves both challenging and unique. These experiences will include going to Lake Placid, N.Y. and Palm Springs, Calif. for tournaments. The team is excited for this upcoming year and the opportunities that lay ahead. We look forward to including River Hawk Nation as part of this journey."

The 2024-25 schedule consists of a total of 34 regular-season matchups with opponents from four different athletic conferences.

The new slate will also split home and away games evenly, with 17 games at the Tsongas Center and 17 games on opposing ice or neutral sites. This is a slight change of pace from last season, which featured 19 games on the road.

Following the visit from Minnesota Duluth, the squad will welcome Colgate to town for two games on Oct. 18-19 on Homecoming Weekend, before closing out the month with the season's first taste of Hockey East action at Merrimack in a one-game set.

That brings the team to an action-packed November that includes a one-game road set at Holy Cross (Nov. 1), followed by a home-and-home set against Boston University (Nov. 8-9), a road series at Vermont (Nov. 15-16) and a home series against UConn (Nov. 22-23).

The River Hawks close out the month with the first of two in-season tournaments right after Thanksgiving on Nov. 29-30. They will compete in the Adirondack Winter Invitational in Lake Placid at the historic 1980 Herb Brooks Arena. They will take on St. Lawrence in game one, with a matchup against Clarkson on night two.

UMass Lowell takes on two conference opponents during the month of December, as a visit from Boston College is scheduled for Dec. 6, followed by a Dec. 9 trip to their place. The squad will also welcome Canadian opponent, Simon Fraser, to the Tsongas for an exhibition matchup on Dec. 29 to close out 2024.

The new year begins at the Coachella Valley Cactus Cup, a tournament hosted at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, California, on Jan. 3-4. The squad will face off against Michigan Tech in game one, before matching up with either Omaha or Holy Cross the next day, depending on the results of game one.

The River Hawks will then be prepared to host two games against Maine (Jan. 10-11) and host Stonehill (Jan. 18), before a home-and-home series with Providence (Jan. 24-25) and another single-game away matchup at Boston College (Jan. 31) close out the month.

February is highlighted by a full slate of Hockey East opponents, beginning with two one-game home series against Merrimack (Feb. 1) and Vermont (Feb. 7). The River Hawks then follow that up with a quick turnaround trip to UConn on Feb. 8 to cap off the weekend. Northeastern is the next Hockey East foe for the River Hawks, with a home-and-home series set for Feb. 14-15, before the month ends with a one-gamer at Providence (Feb. 22) and game one of a two-game series with Massachusetts (Feb. 27).

After an off day on Feb. 28, the team finishes the Massachusetts series with game two on the first of March, followed by a home-and-home with UNH (Mar. 7-8) to finish off the regular season. The Hockey East Playoffs are scheduled for Mar. 12-22.
