BOSTON – The No. 12 ranked UMass Lowell Hockey team fell at Boston University, 5-0 on Friday night in Hockey East play at Agganis Arena.
The River Hawks drop to 13-7-4 (7-4-3 HEA), while the Terriers improve to 9-8-5 overall (6-4-4 HEA) with the victory.
Patrick Harper scored two goals and Robert Mastrosimone scored another tally all on the power play in the final nine minutes of the game to seal the win for the Terriers.
Ethan Phillips scored his second goal of the season for BU to open in the scoring in the game at 6:47 in the third stanza. The Terriers extended their lead to 2-0 with a 5x3 power play goal by Trevor Zegras with 11 minutes to play in the game.
The teams skated to two scoreless periods to start the game.
Senior goaltender
Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) stopped 29 shots in his 22
nd start of the season, while Ashton Abel recorded 17 saves for the Terriers in his second career win. Freshman netminder
Logan Neaton (Brighton, Mich.) came in the game in relief of Wall for the final 6:33 of play for the River Hawks and made one save.
UMass Lowell returns to action for the series finale vs. Boston University on Saturday, January 25
