WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Sophomore attackman
Domenic Giachello (Somers, Conn.) scored a career-high four goals for the UMass Lowell Men's Lacrosse team as they fell at Hartford, 14-11 in America East play on Saturday afternoon at Al-Marzook Field.
The River Hawks fall to 4-7 overall (1-2 AE), while Hartford improves to 2-9 overall (2-2 AE) with the victory.
"We spent way too much time on the defensive end today," said UMass Lowell Head Coach
Ed Stephenson. "Grant played really well with 13 saves. We unfortunately had an inordinate amount of unforced turnovers."
The contest was a back-and-forth affair as the River Hawks cut Hartford's lead to one goal on six occasions in the game.
Giachello scored three of his four goals in the first half, to go along with nine total shots. Senior
Cory Highfield (Georgetown, Ont.) added two goals. while
Isaac Bot (Calgary, Alta.) and Dan Cozzi (Reading, Mass.) also scored goals for the River Hawks. Senior midfielder Cliff Kurker (Needham, Mass.) added his first career goal for UMass Lowell at 8:18 of the third quarter.
UMass Lowell owned a 13-4 shot advantage in the fourth quarter against the Hawks.
Hartford held a 6-5 lead at halftime against UMass Lowell.

Grant Lardieri (Ada, Mich.) recorded 13 saves in the losing effort for the River Hawks, while Hartford's Cam Logan finished with 10 stops for his second win of the season.
Freshman face-off midfielder
Liam McDonough (Groton, Conn.) added a team-high nine face-off wins, five ground balls and a goal for the River Hawks.
Hartford's Ty Thompson finished with a game-high six points (2g,4a), while Christian Paley and Owen Trepeta each totaled three goals apiece in the win.
UMass Lowell returns to action at home on Saturday, April 13th vs. Stony Brook. Game time from Cushing Field Complex is 7:30 p.m.
