LOWELL, Mass. -- Freshman forward
Matt Brown (Wood Ridge, N.J.) of the No. 17 ranked UMass Lowell Hockey team was named Hockey East Rookie of the Month for October, as announced by the league office on Friday afternoon.
Brown amassed nine points (3g,6a) with a +3 rating and 30 shots on goal in the 4-2-2 month for the River Hawks. His three goals, six assists, nine points lead all Hockey East rookies in the month. His 30 shots on goal leads the nation.
"Matt has been able to have a strong start and make an immediate impact," said UMass Lowell Head Coach
Norm Bazin. "He has been both timely and consistent with his contributions thus far. We are excited he has been acknowledged for his start."
He posted a point in five contests in the month with three multi-point efforts. Brown has posted at least three shots on goal in seven of his first eight collegiate games for the River Hawks to date, averaging 3.75 shots per contest.Â
