BOSTON – The No. 10 ranked UMass Lowell Hockey team earned a 6-4 road win at Northeastern on Friday night at Matthews in the Hockey East series finale.
The River Hawks improve to 16-9-3 overall (8-7-1 HEA) with the victory, while the Huskies drop to 11-11-5 overall (5-9-3 HEA) with the loss.
Northeastern struck first in the game with a power play goal by Adam Gaudette at 9:27 in the opening period. Adam Filipe scored to make it 2-0 in favor of the Huskies less than three minutes later. Senior defenseman
Dylan Zink (Madison, Wis.) got the River Hawks on the board to make it a 2-1 game with less than two minutes left in the period.
Gaudette notched his second tally for Northeastern just 1:05 into the middle stanza. Junior forward
C.J. Smith (Des Moines, Iowa) netted his 15
th goal of the season on the power play beating NU goalie Ryan Ruck high glove side to cut the deficit to 3-2. Junior forward
Jake Kamrass (Atlanta, Ga.) tied the game at 3-3 with his 10
th marker of the year with 1:55 left in the second on a nice backhander off a rebound from
John Edwardh (Calgary, Alta.) shot. The River Hawks held a decided 11-4 shot advantage in the second period.
Connor Wilson's (Calgary, Alta.) third goal of the season gave the River Hawks a 4-3 lead in the game for the first time as his shot from the left circle banked off Ruck's right pad with 11:11 left in the third frame. Filipe scored his second of the day for Northeastern to make it a 4-4 game with 9:30 left to play. Sophomore forward
Ryan Dmowski (East Lyme, Conn.) registered the game-winner for the River Hawks with 5:49 left to play for his sixth goal of the season. UMass Lowell freshman forward
Kenny Hausinger (Anchorage, Alaska) added an insurance goal with an empty-netter with 45 seconds left to seal the win for the River Hawks.

Michael Kapla (Eau Claire, Wis.) notched three assists in the game and on his first assist he notched the 80th point of his River Hawk career.Â
Freshman goaltender
Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) finished the night with 20 saves, which included nine saves in the third period. Ruck stopped 20 shots for the Huskies in the losing effort.
