SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: UMass Lowell enters the weekend with a 1-2 record, which included a 3-0 season opening win against Manhattan last Friday night at the Spartan Invitational. Freshman outside hitter Katherine Claybaugh (Danville, Calif.) leads the team with 29 kills, while Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) leads the roster with 27 digs. Senior setter Alexa Toth (Portland, Ore.) leads the team with 48 assists. Freshman Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) also had an impressive opening weekend with 23 kills as she was named to the Spartan Invitational All-Tournament Team.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: Bryant owns a 2-3 overall record, but have lost its last two matches. Kiley Robbins leads the Bulldogs with 39 kills in five matches. Fairfield has posted a 1-3 overall mark early in the season, as Skyler Day's 52 kills is best on the Stags' roster. The host Crusaders own a 1-2 record as Mandy Sifferlen paces the team with 42 kills.

CLAYBAUGH NAMED AMERICA EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Claybaugh was named America East Rookie of the Week on Tuesday morning by the conference office. Claybaugh notched a team-high 29 kills, 21 digs and a .273 hitting percentage in three matches last weekend at the Spartan Invitational in San Jose, Calif. She totaled a career-high 13 kills in the late match vs. Providence last Saturday and posted 11 kills earlier in the day against San Jose State. In her collegiate debut on Friday against Manhattan, Claybaugh posted five kills and 12 digs in the 3-0 season-opening victory. She was one of two River Hawks named to the Spartan Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts over the weekend. She finished the week averaging 3.22 kills per set, which ranked second among America East players and also chipped in with 2.33 digs per set for the River Hawks.
