Final Results
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The UMass Lowell River Hawks men's golf team finished fourth out of four teams at the Patriot Spring Intercollegiate tournament.

UMass Lowell shot a score of 342 during the second round, giving them a two-round total score of 665.
Â
Navy won the tournament after shooting a 312 in the second round, giving them a score of 614. Lehigh University came in second with a tournament score of 618, followed by Bucknell University with a 626.

Junior Jonathan Burgin (Hampshire, England) led the River Hawks with an 8-over-par 80 and finished tied for 11th overall in the tournament. Sophomore Kevin Scott (Tyngsborough, Mass.) finished the day with a 11-over-par 83, followed by junior Joe Vanaman (Kirby-in-Ashfield, Nottingham, England) with a 13-over-par 85.

Senior Brian Valencia (Marlboro, Mass.) and sophomore Jimmy Walmsley (Pepperell, Mass.) rounded out the UMass Lowell squad with a 22 over par and a 27 over par, respectively.

Four other River Hawks competed independently, led by sophomore Eric Byrne (Derry, N.H.) with a 9-over-par 81 for the second round.

"The 2016 Patriot Intercollegiate gave us an opportunity to access our play against teams that have very proud golf traditions," said head coach Ken Hughes. "We look to use the experience we gained this week to improve our position in our next tournament, which is hosted by another Patriot League team, Lafayette."

For the tournament, the River Hawks completed 66 pars and 10 birdies, while completing no eagles. UMass Lowell averaged a score of 3.72 on par-3 holes, a 4.67 on par-4 holes and a 5.72 on par-5 holes.

The River Hawks next tee off for the Lafayette College Invitational on Saturday, April 2. The tournament will take place at the Silver Creek Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.
