LOWELL, Mass. -- Co-Captain
Rachel Arnason (Kelowna, B.C.) recorded a career and match-high 14 kills to lead the UMass Lowell volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep against Bryant University on Tuesday night at Costello Athletic Center. The set scores were 26-24, 25-23 and 28-26.
With the victory, the River Hawks improve their record to 3-13 overall on the season, while Bryant falls to 10-9 with the loss.
Arnason finished the match with a .407 hitting percentage, six digs and three blocks, while freshman outside hitter
Haley Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) added 10 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Freshman middle blocker
Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) registered set-clinching kills in Sets 1 and 2, and finished the match with eight kills and a career-high seven total blocks. Junior right side hitter
Elima Ahzi (Chula Vista, Calif.) also added eight kills and a .316 hitting percentage in the victory for the River Hawks.
Junior Alex Toth (Portland, Ore.) recorded a team-high 22 assists, while freshman
Delaney Mendez (Phoenix, Ariz.) totaled 20 assists in splitting the duties running the River Hawks' offense.
The River Hawks hit .371 with 15 kills in the opening set and followed that up with 17 kills and a .325 hitting percentage in the second frame.
UMass Lowell returns to action on Friday, October 2nd against UMBC (7pm) in the America East opener on "Dig Pink NIght" at Costello Athletic Center.
