APALACHIN, N.Y. – UMass Lowell finished the Binghamton University Fall Golf Invitational tied for 11th out of 16 teams.

The River Hawks finished the second round with a team score of 311 and an overall tournament score of 612.

The University of Delaware took first place with a score of 580. The University of Rhode Island finished second with a score of 582. Towson University surged in the second round to take third overall with a 590.

Host school Binghamton University finished tied for fifth with Colgate University with scores of 599.

Ryan Paris (Haverhill, Mass.) finished first for UMass Lowell and tied for 32nd overall with a tournament score of 152. Senior
Brian Valencia (Marlboro, Mass.) was right behind him with a 153, followed by sophomore
Eric Byrne (Derry, N.H.) with a 156.

Jonathan Burgin (Hampshire, England) and sophomore
Kevin Scott (Tyngsborough, Mass.) rounded out the River Hawks with a 158 and 160, respectively.

Scott had the lowest single-round score of the tournament for UMass Lowell when he shot a two-over-par 74 in the first round.
"I'm proud of how our team competed on a 7,000-yard championship golf course against a strong field of teams," said head coach Ken Hughes. "Next week we are looking forward to playing in The Connecticut Cup hosted by UConn."Â
The River Hawks are back in action on Monday, Oct. 12, when they travel to Ellington, Conn., for the Connecticut Cup.
