BREWSTER, Mass. – In the final tournament of the golf season, the UMass Lowell River Hawks took fourth place in the NEIGA Fall Championship at the Captains Course with a two-round score of 634.

Bryant University stayed in the lead to win the tournament with a score of 608. Central Connecticut State University finished second with a 616, followed by Fairfield University with a 626.

After the River Hawks in fourth place, the College of Holy Cross took fifth with a score of 637. Providence College rounded out the field in sixth place with a score of 655.

Juniors Joe Vanaman (Kirby-in-Ashfield, Nottingham, England) and Jonathan Burgin (Hampshire, England) finished first for UMass Lowell with two-round scores of 157, also tying them for ninth overall in the tournament.

Junior Ryan Paris (Haverhill, Mass.) finished third for the River Hawks with a score of 159, followed by Sophomore Kevin Scott (Tyngsborough, Mass.) with a 161. Sophomore Jimmy Walmsley (Pepperell, Mass.) concluded UMass Lowell with a score of 165.

Vanaman and Paris tied for lowest single round on the team with four-over par scores of 76. Vanaman shot his 76 in the first round while Paris shot his in the second round.
"As a team we played a very steady, competitive two rounds," said head coach Ken Hughes. "All of our players in the NEIGA tournament were underclassmen and the experience of playing this year will serve them well in the future."

The NEIGA Fall Championship concludes the fall season for the River Hawk golf team. Their spring schedule will be announced within the next few months.
